About 1,000 hogs have recently disappeared from Iowa and Minnesota farms, with many of the thefts occurring at larger animal confinement facilities. Investigators suspect that most of the stolen pigs have been sold to slaughterhouses. So far the animals have not been found, and the culprits are still eluding police. It is not known yet whether the thefts in the two states are connected.
