‘Carpuccino’ Runs On The Power Of Coffee

Martin Bacon of County Durham, England, has developed the ‘Carpuccino,’ a vehicle that runs on dried pellets of coffee grounds. The car reached an average top speed of 66 mph, a possible world record for land speed for a vehicle powered by gasification. Used coffee granules are made into pellets, burned and then a flammable gas drawn off. Unfortunately, the car’s fumes don’t smell as enticing as one might think. Bacon said the exhaust smells more “like a house fire” than a fresh espresso.
