Coffee Linked To Hallucinations

A recent study suggests that heavy coffee drinkers may be more likely to experience auditory hallucinations. In other words, they hear things that aren’t there. Participants put on headphones and were told to push a buzzer any time they heard the song “White Christmas.” However, the only sound scientists played was white noise. Participants who drank more than 400 mL of coffee a day pushed their buzzers much more often, indicating to researchers that avid coffee drinkers may be hearing things more often that those who drink less coffee.
